Empire Kosher was founded in 1938 in Liberty, New Jersey, by Austrian immigrant Joseph Katz who recognized a need for kosher food production. In the 1960s, the company relocated to Pennsylvania. Now located in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, Empire Kosher is the largest producer of fresh kosher poultry in the U.S. The company offers fresh and frozen poultry, deli meats and further processed convenience foods to the club, mass and grocery channels.
