Otto & Sons Weihai operates four plants in the country as an extension of U.S.-based OSI Group, which first established a Chinese footprint in 1991. Its vertically integrated poultry operation, OSI Group Poultry Development Co., is located in Shandong Province, with both a primary processing and further processing plant, as well as a hatchery and feed production facility. Two more of the holding company’s further processing plants are located in Hebei Province (Hebei Superb Foods Co.) and Henan Province (Henan Best Foods Co.).
The Heibei facility is one of only a handful in China approved by Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries that meets all standards required to export to Japan.
