Sparboe sells egg products plant to Deb El Food Products

Sparboe Farms sold its egg products plant in New Hampton, Iowa, to Deb El Food Products, the companies announced.

Sparboe Farms sold its egg products plant in New Hampton, Iowa, to Deb El Food Products, the companies announced.

Liquid, frozen and dried egg products are produced at the plant. Workers at the New Hampton facility will now be employees of Deb El Food Products.

“As we at Deb El continue on our family’s fourth generation transformational journey in egg products, this purchase will position us to significantly accelerate our progress in achieving our vision of being a world-class and trusted supplier of high-quality egg products, comprised of experienced team members passionately committed to customer service, quality-assured products, safety and great value,” Elliot Gibber, president and CEO of Deb El Food Products said in a press release.

“We are pleased to welcome Sparboe Foods’ talented employees to our Deb El team and together we will strive to further enhance our high-quality egg product offerings to our national and international customer base.”

While Sparboe is selling the egg products facility, it will continue to operate its shell egg facilities in Minnesota, Iowa and Colorado.

Sparboe Farms, according to the Egg Industry Top Companies Survey, is the 17th largest egg company in the United States. At the conclusion of 2018, the company had a flock of 5.84 million hens.

Deb El Food Products is a family-owned manufacturer of a full-line of liquid, frozen, dried, hard-cooked and pre-cooked egg products. Based in Newark, New Jersey, Deb El currently owns plants in Elizabeth, New Jersey; Thompsonville, New York; and Sherburn, New York.
