France, the first major poultry exporter to vaccinate against highly pathogenic avian influenza, is making progress in vaccinating its duck flocks but has suffered a backlash in international markets.

France is now partway through its highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 vaccination campaign, which will see 64 million ducks vaccinated over the course of a year and cost approximately Euro 100 million (US$108.9 million).
