Topigs has developed the Topigs Production Index (TPI) for the German market. The TPI is a combination of pig breeding value estimation and an updated specific economic weighting factor.

Topigs has developed the Topigs Production Index (TPI) for the German market. The TPI is a combination of pig breeding value estimation and an updated specific economic weighting factor.

The TPI provides a quick and clear impression of a boar’s economic value for the German market. The economic weighting factor for the calculation of the TPI is calculated from the statistical analyses and samples of more than 100,000 datasets in the Topigs Research Center IPG.

The economic weighting factor is dynamic and constantly updated. With this new method, more reliable breeding values for young boars are available.
