The Australian Chicken Meat Federation (ACMF) describes itself as the peak coordinating body for participants in the chicken meat industries in Australia. It was formed in 1964.

The Australian Chicken Meat Federation (ACMF) describes itself as the peak coordinating body for participants in the chicken meat industries in Australia.

It was formed in 1964, and its main objectives are:

  • the promotion and protection of the interests of the chicken meat industry;
  • the conduct or support of research on all aspects of the industry;
  • the securing of representation on appropriate committees, boards and commissions;
  • the approaching of government bodies on all matters of concern to the industry.

ACMF is also strongly involved in providing strategic direction to industry-relevant research and development through providing research management services to the chicken meat R&D program, delivered under the umbrella of the Rural Industries R&D corporation.

The ACMF strategically focuses on building the industry’s reputation, building relationships with its industry counterparts worldwide and driving community education across a wide range of issues.

Recent initiatives taken on by ACMF include a national education and advertising campaigns aimed at healthcare professionals. The federation has also initiated an independent spokesperson program fostering relationships and informing independent experts, as well as producing a producing an education DVD for schools.

The federation has conducted research assessing the environmental impact of the industry and is active in issues management and crisis protocols.
