APHIS seeks animal health advisory committee nominees

TheU.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health InspectionService (APHIS) is seeking nominations for membership for the Secretary’sAdvisory Committee on Animal Health.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is seeking nominations for membership for the Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Animal Health. The members would serve for two-year terms.

The committee will advise U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack on actions necessary to prevent, conduct surveillance or monitor and control or eradicate animal diseases of national importance. In doing so, the committee will consider the implications of public health, conservation of natural resources and the stability of livestock economies.

The USDA is seeking nominations from interested organizations and individuals. The notice of solicitation for membership was published in the Federal Register on December 3.

All nominations or applications received on or before January 20, 2015 will be considered. The nomination packages should include a resume with a cover letter addressed to Thomas Vilsack, Secretary, U. S. Department of Agriculture, 1400 Independence Avenue, SW, Washington, DC 20250, Attn: Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Animal Health.
