Dr. Greg Rosales will retire as Aviagen’s vice president of veterinary services in 2015. An Aviagen veteran for nearly a quarter of a century, Rosales has served as the company’s veterinary services chief since 1997. He plans to continue consulting with Aviagen and participating in relevant industry and professional committees.

“Dr. Greg Rosales has had a distinguished 35-year career as a poultry veterinarian, and we’re proud that he chose to build his remarkable career at Aviagen,” said Kevin McDaniel, president of Aviagen North America. “We will ensure that his devotion to consistent quality and compliance with the highest health standards for broiler breeding stock continue after he leaves. We wish Greg all the best as he enjoys a well-deserved retirement and a chance to spend more time with friends and family.”

In addition to supporting and leading Aviagen’s growth and development of the company’s health, biosecurity and animal welfare programs, Rosales is also well-recognized in the industry. He has authored or co-authored several reports in refereed journals, a few chapters in books or manuals on avian diseases, and numerous publications on biosecurity and disease prevention and control in various trade journals and conference proceedings in the United States and Latin America.

He also has been a member of numerous professional organizations and has served on an array committees and boards. Just this January, Rosales was honored by the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) for his leadership role in the organization, and for a lifetime spent working to make poultry the world’s leading source of affordable, healthy, and sustainable animal protein. He also was elected to serve as the representative for the Central Region on the General Conference Committee of the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) in 2012. The American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP) also honored him with a Special Service Award for his outstanding contributions and unselfish dedication and service.

In 1979 Rosales received his DVM degree (valedictorian) from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and also earned an M.S. degree from the University of Georgia in 1983. He returned to his alma mater in Mexico City and served as an associate professor and head of Poultry Diagnostic Services at the College of Veterinary Medicine until 1985.

Rosales returned to the University of Georgia and earned a PhD in 1988. He then served as director of Technical Services for Indian River International in Nacogdoches, Texas. In 1991 he joined Ross Breeders, now Aviagen Incorporated, and served as a staff veterinarian, director of Veterinary Services, and since 1997 as vice president of Veterinary Services.
