Brazil’s November and year-to-date poultry exports disappoint

At 327,400 tons, the volume of poultry products exported by Brazil during November of this year was 5.8 percent lower by volume. by value, exports were also lower, falling by 3.2 percent to US$657.15 million.

At 327,400 tons, the volume of poultry products exported by Brazil during November of 2014 was 5.8 percent lower by volume. By value, exports were also lower, falling by 3.2 percent to US$657.15 million.

Despite this disappointing performance, the president of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), Francisco Turra, commented that the figures did alter the association’s positive forecasts for 2014 as a whole.

Over the first 11 months of this year, the association reports, Brazil exported 3.65 million tons of poultry products. This was 2.4 percent higher the same period of 2013. By value, however, exports increased by only 1 percent to stand at US$7.27 billion.

The main export product remains cuts, which registered an increase of 6.4 percent over the period, while the second most important export commodity was whole birds, down by 3.1 percent.

The Middle East and Asia remained the most important export markets for Brazilian poultry products over the period.
