Pressures on poultry production from high commodity prices and environmentalists were discussed at a Cobb Germany seminar for the Hungarian chicken industry at Inarcs, Pest County, in the central part of Hungary.
More than 90 participants from the whole industry heard about the impact on production from environmental concerns, limited resources and politicians.
James Truscott director of Cobb Germany, who opened the event, spoke about the worldwide success of the Cobb500 in times of high feed prices.
Several of the technical presentations dealt with aspects of health and biosecurity. Matthias Todte, chief veterinarian from WIMEX, stressed the importance of broiler hatching egg hygiene in achieving high hatchability and good chick quality. Saeid Najati, Cobb Germany market manager for Germany, explained the principles and benefits of good chick transportation.
Other speakers included Dutch poultry expert Ron Meijerhof; Paul Welten, technical manager Cobb Europe; and Gosse Veninga, Cobb Europe geneticist.
