The Maschhoffs completes purchase of GNP Company

The Maschhoffs, the largestfamily-owned pork production company in North America, has completed its acquisitionof GNP Company, a leading Midwestern poultry processor. The Maschhoffsannounced the closing of the GNP Company acquisition on December 16.

The Maschhoffs, the largest family-owned pork production company in North America, has completed its acquisition of GNP Company, a leading Midwestern poultry processor. The Maschhoffs announced the closing of the GNP Company acquisition on December 16.

The proposed merger between the pork producer and the poultry processor was initially announced on November 22. Under the conditions of the acquisition, GNP Company, which produces chicken under the Gold'n Plump, Just Bare and Sunny Roost labels, will continued to operate as a separate business unit from The Maschhoffs pork production business.

GNP Company's headquarters will remain in St. Cloud,, Minn., and its nearly 1,700 team members and 350 family farm partners will be retained. Mike Helgeson will also be retained as CEO of GNP Company.

Based in Carlyle, Ill., The Maschhoffs is owned by fifth generation family members Dave and Karen Maschhoff and Ken and Julie Maschhoff.
