Brazil strengthens presence in China

New meat plants are about to be approved to export into China. The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture expects 9 beef plants, 47 chicken plants and 15 pork processing plants to be approved by the Chinese veterinary inspection service to export into China in the first semester of 2012.

China is the main destination to the Brazilian agribusiness exports, responding for US$16.5 billion imports in 2011, 17 percent of Brazil’s total exports. This revenue is 50 percent higher than the year before, when exports revenue reached US$11 billion. The main products exported in 2011 were soybean (US$ 10.9 billion), celluloses (US$1.3 billion) and sugar (US$1.21 billion).
