Longtime Poultry Federation Lab Director Allene Johnson passed away on May 30 after an extended illness.

Longtime Poultry Federation Lab Director Allene Johnson, passed away on May 30 after an extended illness.

Allene was born on Feb. 16, 1940, in Swain, Ark., the daughter of Jake and Jessie Collins. She married Jimmie Lee Johnson in 1969 in Las Vegas, Nev. She retired from the Arkansas Poultry Federation after 46 years of dedicated service and attended the Rivers of Mercy Church in Springdale, Ark.

She was preceded in death by both parents, an older brother, Burlin Collins; a sister, Irma Williams; and a granddaughter, Amber Gosvener.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Jim Johnson of the home; daughter, Twila Newton and husband Hal of Springdale; son, David Gosvener and wife Lorraine of Springdale; three sisters, Faye Sandlin of Quincy, Calif., Alda Hill of Blue Springs, Mo., and Donna Birchfield of Bentonville, Ark.; one brother, Coy Collins of Pettigrew, Ark.; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of many cousins, family and friends.

Her funeral service was held at the Rivers of Mercy Church on June 3.
