Several mycotoxins – namely aflatoxin, fumonisin, deoxynivalenol and zearalenone – were reported throughout the U.S. corn crop this harvest season, according to Neogen’s Mycotoxin Reports throughout the season.

Several mycotoxins – namely aflatoxin, fumonisin, deoxynivalenol and zearalenone – were reported throughout the U.S. corn crop this harvest season, according to Neogen’s Mycotoxin Reports throughout the season.

Several states – Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Texas – reported more than one mycotoxin in their corn crops. Aflatoxin was found in the most states, while zearalenone was found in only one state.

Mycotoxins in animal feed can have various negative effects on livestock and poultry and can result in poor animal health. Some animals are more sensitive to certain mycotoxins than others.
