The USA Poultry & Egg Export Council (USAPEEC) enthusiastically supports President Trump’s nomination of former Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue as U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. A spokesperson for the Council said, “Perdue’s agrarian background gives him a broad cross-commodity perspective that we believe will benefit all facets of U.S. agriculture.”

Perdue served two distinguished terms as governor of the nation’s leading state for the production of chicken, and the fifth-largest producer of eggs. He is well-versed in those issues of importance to the U.S. poultry and egg industry, including international trade.

“We look forward to working with Secretary Perdue,” said USAPEEC President Jim Sumner. “Georgia’s agricultural production is diverse, and we believe he has the understanding of the issues facing all of U.S. agriculture, and the vision to do the right things to advance its agenda.”
