Canada’s Sofina to acquire Lilydale

Deal totals $130M

Ontario-based Sofina Foods has made a CAN$130M deal to buy Lilydale Inc., a producer-owned poultry processing cooperative in Edmonton, Alberta, according to The Edmonton Journal.

The acquisition involves CAN$75M in cash and debentures and CAN$55M in assumed debt. Lilydale CEO Ed Rodenburg said shareholders will receive a payout that is above the company’s historical book value.
