Using binders to control exotoxins in animal feed
Exotoxins are extremely potent compounds that cause major damage to the animal either locally (in the intestines, for example) or through systemic infection. Drawing from the example of mycotoxins, it could be possible to control enterotoxins by similar mechanisms, but up to now, there has been a lack of information concerning the efficacy of infeed supplements on enterotoxins.
According to one recent test, there was a clear correlation between level of binder and amount of exotoxin bound. At the highest binder dosage nearly all exotoxin was bound.
