I am happy to announce that WATT Global Media has assembled a group of experts to explore the role that vaccination could play in any future highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak. The webinar, Vaccination as part of an avian flu eradication plan, will be presented on Wednesday December 16, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. CST (3:30 p.m. EST).

Dr. Leslie David Sims, consultant, Asia Pacific Veterinary Information Service, Australia, has been involved in numerous avian flu control efforts in Asia over the last 30 years. He will present on the lessons learned from vaccine use in these eradication efforts.

Dr. David Suarez, research leader, Exotic and Emerging Avian Viral Diseases Research, USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS), has been with USDA ARS for 20 years and his research has focused primarily on avian influenza and Newcastle disease. He will present on the capabilities of current vaccines and how they might be used in an eradication program.

Dr. Lee Ann Thomas, director of the Avian, Swine & Aquatic Animal Health Center, USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), will report on how avian influenza vaccine could be used as a tool in an effective eradication effort.

We will have a question-and-answer segment after the presentations and I anticipate a lively discussion. I hope you will take the time to join us for the live webinar or to view the archive later. This promises to be an interesting 90 minutes.
