DuPont RiboPrinter includes more than 8,500 patterns in its database to provide food manufacturers with information on identifying contaminating bacteria. From a simple colony pick, the RiboPrinter system produces a distinct genetic pattern that differentiates the bacteria at or below the strain level, with associated historical hours to determine where it came from and if it has ever been run on the system before, the company says. This allows users to track the baseline flora of their facility and monitor change to spot trends and track contamination events to their source.
