Gemix from Genes Diffusion brings together liquid and encapsulated fresh semen to prolong the efficacy of the spermatozoa and therefore of fertility. Capsules enclosing the sperm in an all-natural gelatin material ensure their progressive release for more than 36 hours after insemination. This makes sperm available for a longer period of the sow’s oestrus and more likely to match ovulation and achieve conception while also permitting the use of a reduced AI dose. Insertion into the sow is by the company’s Gedis auto-insemination catheter; avoiding the possibility of contamination of semen by contact with air.
