A Chinese delegation visited the UK looking to buy 1,000 breeding pigs for an integrated operation in their country, following discussions between breeders and representatives from the British Pig Executive and the British Pig Association at the China International Meat Industry Exhibition.

“They were specifically looking for pedigree Large White and pedigree Landrace pigs," said BPA export promoter Chris Jackson. "It was a very successful visit and we took the delegation all around the country. We are looking forward to doing business with them.”

According to BPEX director Mick Sloyan, who hosted a dinner for the visitors while they were in England, the Chinese are bringing their agriculture up to date at a tremendous rate. "British breeding stock is still prized the world over,” said Sloyan.
