The American Society for the Prevention of the Cruelty to Animals will provide a $250,000 grant to Texas and Oklahoma to help purchase hay for animal feed.

The grant money comes after the two states have suffered wildfires and drought this year, as well as the impact of the high cost and short supply of quality hay. The funds will be allocated to 24 equine welfare organizations and animal control agencies in the two states, according to NBC DFW.
