Nutritional feed additive supplier Adisseo Group and Sobegi (Société Béarnaise de Gestion Industrielle) will invest and run a terminal of importation and remelting of solid sulphur in Bayonne, France, by the end of 2012.
The terminal will benefit from a maritime access for standard-sized sulphur vessels, as well as railroad connections toward the consumer plant of Adisseo based on the chemical platform of Les Roches de Condrieu. This terminal, with over 200 kt/year of capacity, will start operations in October 2012. It will not only bring a long-term answer to Adisseo's sulphur supply issue, but will also represent an entrance gate for other sulphur users or manufacturers, according to the company.
