Purina has developed new equine senior active healthy edge horse feed for aging horses.
The product is a more calorically dense formulation specifically designed for the active, aging horse that still has the ability to effectively chew and digest forage, according to Purina. It's a pelleted feed with a high fat and fiber, controlled starch and sugar formula that delivers all the vitamins and minerals the aging horse needs. "Not all older horses have dental and digestive trouble and many can still digest hay and pasture," said Chris Goodwin, marketing manager for Land O'Lakes Purina Feed. "They need a feed formula that provides nutrition specific to the aging horse and also allows the horse owner to feed forage."
