Lenovo Group expands into China poultry industry

Lenovo Group, an affiliate of Chinese investment firm Legend Capital, made a $30 million investment in poultry breeding enterprise Lihua Group, marking the beginning of Lenovo's interest in the poultry breeding industry. Liu Chuanzhi, board chairman of Lenovo, said the company intends to build a Lenovo food brand covering meat, agricultural products and tea.

Lenovo Group, an affiliate of Chinese investment firm Legend Capital, made a $30 million investment in poultry breeding enterprise Lihua Group, marking the beginning of Lenovo's interest in the poultry breeding industry.

Liu Chuanzhi, board chairman of Lenovo, said the company intends to build a Lenovo food brand covering meat, agricultural products and tea. Lenovo is also planning to invest in fruit planting in Chengdu, a city in western China. The company is looking into the possibility of Lenovo's agricultural subsidiary being listed.

Legend Capital established a department for agricultural investment in 2010.
