Russia approves pig meat import quotas for 2012

Russia has approved its import quotas for pig meat and other meat for 2012, including allotments set for the U.S. and European Union, according to a government report. Limits have been set at 400,000 metric tons for pork and 30,000 metric tons for pork trimmings.

Limits have been set at 400,000 metric tons for pork and 30,000 metric tons for pork trimmings. Chilled beef imports have been set at 30,000 metric tons, of which 29,000 metric tons have been allotted to the EU. Frozen beef is fixed at 530,000 metric tons, with the EU and U.S. allocated 60,000 metric tons each, according to the report.
