Top US meat industry regulator steps down

J. Dudley Butler, head of the U.S. Grain Inspection Packers and Stockyards Administration, has stepped down. Butler oversaw the Obama administration's efforts to reform the agency and said that he is confident the enforcement efforts will continue.

Butler oversaw the Obama administration's efforts to reform the agency and said that he is confident the enforcement efforts will continue. The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Alan Christian, deputy administrator for the Packers and Stockyards Program, will serve as the Grain Inspection Packers and Stockyards Administration's acting administrator until a replacement for Butler is named.
