A Korean farm in the South Chungcheong Province is reporting a suspected case of avian influenza, the country's first case in ten months, according to government officials.

Of 450 chickens on the farm, 45 have died and 100 others are showing symptoms of the disease. In a screening test, six out of 10 birds tested positive for avian influenza. If the case is confirmed as highly pathogenic, a nationwide "standstill" order will be issued — the transportation of poultry, personnel and vehicles related to the livestock industry will be temporarily controlled to prevent the spread of the disease.
