The Intestinal Health Scientific Interest Group, formed in 2010, held its first symposium in March in Gent, Belgium, which attracted 150 poultry industry representatives from more than 20 countries.

Members of poultry industry’s scientific community, consultants and veterinarians discussed poultry production challenges affecting intestinal health management and performance. The symposium focused on the responsible use of antibiotics in animal production, with speakers that provided insights into the pathogenesis of different intestinal disorders and supplied diagnostic tools and information on preventive strategies to maintain intestinal health in animals.
