Scottish Agricultural College appoints professor of poultry science

Scottish Agricultural College’s Ayr-based Head of Avian Science, Dr. Nick Sparks, was conferred with a Personal Professorship during the school's annual graduation ceremony and is now a professor of poultry science. Sparks joined the college in 1989, having studied food science at Nottingham University then taking a Ph.D. at the University of Bath, where his research focused on the structure of the egg shell and its role in disease prevention.

Scottish Agricultural College’s Ayr-based Head of Avian Science, Dr. Nick Sparks, was conferred with a Personal Professorship during the school's annual graduation ceremony and is now a professor of poultry science.

Sparks joined the college in 1989, having studied food science at Nottingham University then taking a Ph.D. at the University of Bath, where his research focused on the structure of the egg shell and its role in disease prevention. Since then he has contributed to the work of all three Scottish Agricultural College divisions: Learning, Consulting and Research. In addition to his role as head of avian science, Sparks has served as dean of the college's Ayr campus for the last seven years.
