New Square, N.Y. is considering the approval of a new fully automated poultry processing plant on 50,730 square feet in an industrial park near New Hempstead, according to a news report.
This would enable a business already in the village to expand - keeping numerous jobs in Rockland. Residents have raised concerns about odors and other forms of pollution from the slaughterhouse. A public hearing will be scheduled for later this summer.
