The Animal Agriculture Alliance has ended its 25-year relationship with the Bank of America after the bank said it would not sever its ties to animal rights group the Humane Society of the United States.

Bank of America’s agribusiness executive said that the affinity card program with the Humane Society is not new and that the society receives no preferential treatment. The Alliance said that it cannot continue a business relationship with companies that are contributing financially to extreme animal rights organizations that seek to eliminate the animal agriculture industry. "We will continue to speak up for America’s farmers and ranchers who continue to provide us with a safe, healthy and affordable food supply," said the Alliance.
