Poultry processor fights misconceptions about new plant

Wellington residents not pleased about plant move.

Northern Colorado Poultry’s desire to move its plant from Nunn, Colo., to Wellington, Colo., has created a stir among Wellington residents, according to an article from the Coloradoan .

The company, which wants to be closer to its contract growers near Wellington, wants to build a new facility in the light-industrial-zoned business park, but misconceptions about the new plant left residents skeptical.

NCP's owner Bill Beihartz said the plant will be entirely self-contained and is small, clean and doesn't smell, despite critics' unfounded complaints.

"[I] can't see where it will distress anybody," Wellington Mayor Larry Noel reportedly said.

NCP must submit its proposal and gain Wellington Town Board approval before the constuction on the new plant begins.
