Pilgrim's chicken processing plant in Huimilpan, Querétaro, Mexico, will incorporate new technology to reduce the odors it produces.
After complaints from neighboring residents, Pilgrim’s joined forces with the Ministry of Sustainable Development to integrate the new technology to mitigate odors.
Despite previous concerns for nearby residents’ health, Gregorio Peláez Velázquez, secretary of the Ministry of Sustainable Development, said the Ministry of Health found no health risks to people who live near the plant. He said the change was made in order to improve the coexistence between the company and the locals.
