China's hog inventory hit 472.48 million head in September, increasing 1.3 percent from August and 1.5 percent from 2011, according to statistics published by the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture.
This number included 50.65 million fertile sows, a 2.1 percent increase from August and a 4.7 percent increase from 2011. From January to September, the stocks of all pigs and sows have been increasing steadily, according to the ministry. September saw the highest increase, creating a four-year high.
