A Sunnymel poultry slaughterhouse and cutting facility opened in Clair, New Brunswick, on November 19.
The plant is the result of a business partnership between Olymel, a Canadian agrifood processing and distribution company, and Groupe Westco, a Canadian poultry producer, according to reports. The facility required an investment of more than $50 million, and the plant’s weekly slaughtering capacity will be 450,000 chickens once optimal production speed is reached.
