California poultry producer to sell assets

Zacky Farms, a California poultry producer, will sell its assets to Pitman Family Farms. Zacky Farms filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October. The Robert T. and Lillian Zacky Trust offered a winning bid of $31.6 million to buy the company at a bankruptcy auction in January but have since backed out.

Zacky Farms, a California poultry producer, will sell its assets to Pitman Family Farms. Zacky Farms filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October. The Robert T. and Lillian Zacky Trust offered a winning bid of $31.6 million to buy the company at a bankruptcy auction in January but have since backed out. 

Pitman Family Farms, a turkey producer, has offered $32 million for the company. Among the Zacky assets are three California processing plants. A hearing has been scheduled February 6 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Eastern District of California to approve the sale.
