Three Mississippi men who have been accused of falsifying temperatures of poultry exported to Russia have had their trial delayed.
Suspects Terry White, Gerald Miller and Patrick McClain were to go to trial during the week of February 4 in the U.S. District Court in Gulfport, Miss. They have been accused of authorizing the release of poultry products in 2009 by circumventing a trade agreement while working for Gulf Coast Cold Storage at the Port of Pascagoula.
The Mississippi Business Journal reported they face trial on a five-count indictment, alleging they conspired to increase productivity by instructing workers to remove poultry from freezers before the meat reached the required temperature.
The postponement of the trial was approved because a prosecuting attorney was busy with two more trials in other courts.
