Turkey eggs in incubators on March 1 in the United States totaled 27.1 million, down 7 percent from March 1, 2012, according to the United States Department of Agriculture’s March 14 Turkey Hatchery Report. Eggs in incubators were down 3 percent from the February 1, 2013, total of 27.9 million eggs.

Turkey poults hatched during February in the United States totaled 22.6 million, down 2 percent from February 2012. Poults hatched were down 6 percent from the January 2013 total of 24.1 million poults.

The 22 million net poults placed during February 2013 in the United States were down 4 percent from the number placed during the same month a year earlier. Net placements were down 7 percent from the January 2013 total of 23.5 million.
