Barry Cronic, a manager at a South Carolina poultry plant, has been charged with knowingly hiring illegal immigrants, according to an article from The Charlotte Observer.

Cronic, a manager at the House of Raeford Farms, allegedly hired illegal workers for the company’s Greenville, S.C., plant from around 2000 until October 2008 when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided the plant.

“The witnesses and the records, we believe, indicate Mr. Cronic was, as plant manager, aware that unauthorized workers were being hired,” said First Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin McDonald in the article.

Cronic and other company officials said they “take all necessary efforts to comply with applicable law.”

Cronic will be sent a summons for his April 30 arraignment and if convicted, could face multiple years in prison, according to the article.
