After graduation, Tokach joined Steve Henry, D.V.M., in mixed animal practice at the Abilene Animal Hospital in Abilene. Later Tokach worked on a team of veterinarians and producers that researched swine disease and pestilence while attempting to keep their clients’ operations profitable and the pigs well fed.

“Abilene Animal Hospital’s focus is always on addressing clients’ needs,” says Tokach. “Whether through industry-funded research trials designed to test a new theory or small field trials designed at the producer’s kitchen table to answer their burning question.”

In 2000, Tokach completed her ABVP board certification in Swine Health Management Practice.
Tokach cites American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) as a driving force behind her career and has served on various committees including American Veterinary Medical Association, the AASV board of directors and eventually as AASV president in 2002. In 2008 Tokach said she was “extremely honored” to receive AASV’s Swine Practitioner of the Year award.
