Gold’n Plump Poultry is introducing its new brand of natural chicken—Just BARE—at most SuperTarget stores throughout the United States as well as with Hy-Vee and other regional grocery chains.

A "Family Farm Code" is printed on each package next to the freshness date code. By entering the three-digit code on-line at, consumers may learn the location of the farm where the chicken was raised.

The transparent, recyclable plastic tray and its clear film lid give consumers a nearly 360-degree view of the chicken inside and is also unique to the market.

"This brand is about giving consumers open access to everything they want to know about Just BARE—to provide transparency from the supermarket and the package back to the family farm," said Julie Berling, director of brand strategy and advocacy.


Trayed products are fixed-weight and feature a scannable barcode. Every package of breast fillets weighs and is priced the same, unlike most other chicken products, which are random-weight and priced by the pound, not the package.

Products for the self-service meat case include boneless skinless breast fillets, breast tenders, boneless skinless thighs, drumsticks and whole chicken. Products are also available for the full-service meat counter.
