Cold storage company observes 90th anniversary

Henningsen Cold Storage is observing 90 years of service in the public refrigerated warehousing industry. The company, originally named Northwestern Ice & Cold Storage, was founded on May 17, 1923 by Waldemar Henningsen, an immigrant from Denmark, as a small ice business in Portland, Ore.

Henningsen Cold Storage is observing 90 years of service in the public refrigerated warehousing industry. The company, originally named Northwestern Ice & Cold Storage, was founded on May 17, 1923 by Waldemar Henningsen, an immigrant from Denmark, as a small ice business in Portland, Ore.

Today, Henningsen Cold Storage is a leading provider of full-service, multi-temperature warehousing and logistics services. It has facilities in Oregon, Idaho, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Washington and specializes in frozen and refrigerated warehousing, transportation management and other services to meet the needs of food companies.

"We are fortunate to be a a fourth-generation, family-owned private company," said Mike Henningsen Jr., company president and chairman. "I am very proud to be a part of this milestone and eagerly look forward to the next 90 years."
