Higher levels of omega-3 eggs

The United Kingdom’s Nobel Foods has introduced a new hen egg that the company claims has the highest ever level of long-chain omega-3.

Present recommended intake in the U.K. of very long chain omega-3 is 450mg per day and one Goldenlay omega-3 egg will contain one third of that, the company claims in an article in Food Navigator.com.

Omega-3 has been taking the food industry by storm, due in part to the view that it benefits cognitive function and may help protect against heart disease. In the past five years, more than 3,000 omega-3 products have been launched worldwide, according to Mintel’s Global New Product Database.
