South Korea consumed 1.08 million tons of pork, 608,000 tons of chicken and 488,000 tons of beef in 2012, according to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. 


South Korean meat consumption has increased more than 22 percent over the past four years, but pork continues to be the protein of choice. South Korea consumed a total of 2.18 million tons of meat in 2012 or 43.7 kg/per person.
