Swine training center holds open house

Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, Iowa, will host an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new Swine Training Center on Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 3-4:30 p.m. Tours of the facility will be held and will showcase how students are learning the latest swine production trends and preparing for employment opportunities after graduation.

Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, Iowa, will host an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new Swine Training Center on Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 3-4:30 p.m. Tours of the facility will be held and will showcase how students are learning the latest swine production trends and preparing for employment opportunities after graduation.

Swine production equipment manufacturer Osborne Industries provided all of the swine management equipment for the facility. Brian Strobel, the Osborne sales representative overseeing the project, and representatives from Iowa Lakes College will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.

Strobel said, "Osborne's equipment will give students real-world training in modern pork production. We were excited to work with Iowa Lakes Community College because of [its] commitment to providing students with a unique opportunity to study in a facility with the latest equipment."

The event is open to the public.
