Ukrainian egg producer Avangardco's nine-month results reveal further expansion

Ukraine's largest egg producer Avangardco has released performance data for the first nine months of 2013. As of the end of September, its total poultry flock stood at 31.4 million head, a 15 percent increase, while the laying hen flock had risen by 14 percent year-on-year to 26.6 million head.

As of the end of September, its total poultry flock stood at 31.4 million head, a 15 percent increase, while the laying hen flock had risen by 14 percent year-on-year to 26.6 million head. Over the first nine months, shell egg production grew by 9 percent to reach 5.118 billion pieces.

The average sales prices remained unchanged year-on-year and stood at UAH0.65/egg  (US$0.08) excluding VAT.

During the period, exports of shell eggs increased by 15 percent year on year.

The company said that it is continuing to increase the volume of shell eggs used for further processing into dry egg products as a percentage of total sales as well as continuing to develop current sales channels for shell eggs, including export and national retail chains.

Avangardco, which holds 55 percent of the industrial egg market and 90 percent of the dry egg market in Ukraine, has also embarked on a significant expansion project. The company, which recorded sales of US$304.3 million as of June 2013, is continuing to expand its Avis, Khmelnytsky region, and Chornobaivske, Kherson region, complexes, which now hold 37 percent and 41 percent of its flock, respectively.
