Pig slaughter in Spain has dropped during the first nine months of 2013, according to data released by the Ministry of Agriculture of Spain. Through September, the number of slaughtered pigs amounts to 30,684,654, a drop of 0.90 percent when compared to the first nine months of 2012.

Meat production in Spain has also declined during the first nine months of 2013. The 2,550,435 metric tons reported represents a 1.3 percent drop when compared to the 2,584,080 metric tons reported in January-September 2012.
