During calendar year 2008 through April, shell eggs broken totaled 663 million dozen, up 5 percent from the comparable period in 2007. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2008 was 867 million pounds, up 4 percent from 2007.
Shell eggs broken up 13 percent
Shell eggs broken totaled 177 million dozen during April 2008, up 13 percent from April a year ago and 9 percent above the 163 million broken during March, according to USDA’s May Egg Products report.
