Antibiotics workshop scheduled for IPPE

TheInternational Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) is announcing itsAntibiotic Use in the Meat and Poultry Industry workshop that will take place from8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on January 29, 2014 at the Georgia World Congress Center inAtlanta. The workshop is sponsored by The American Meat Institute, and theregistration fee is $150 per attendee.

The International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) is announcing its Antibiotic Use in the Meat and Poultry Industry workshop that will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on January 29, 2014 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The workshop is sponsored by The American Meat Institute, and the registration fee is $150 per attendee. 

The workshop will include sessions on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Antibiotics Resistance Report, principles of judicious use of antibiotics in the livestock and poultry industry, antibiotic resistance in veterinary medicine, and perspectives and marketing of consumers and antibiotic use. Featured speakers will include Randall Singer, DVM, Ph.D., associate professor of epidemiology for the University of Minnesota, and Danette Amstein, principal for Midan Marketing.

In addition to the workshop on antibiotic use, IPPE is offering a free educational session on traceability featuring Philip Crandall, Ph.D., professor, University of Arkansas, and Brian D. Adam, Ph.D., professor, Oklahoma State University.  The workshop will cover traceability best practices and new technology.
